The Aloha Boat House is our second nautical styled residential interior design project in collaboration with Kirby Perkins. This house is located in Newport Harbor and the original structure was Arthur Curtis James’ boat house for his yacht Aloha, a 218 ft 3-masted schooner. The fire place mantel is a carved half model of the yacht Aloha developed from the original lines plan, dug up in the archives the Mystic Seaport Museum. This solid stone mantle weighs in at 2564 lbs… The stair binnacle / newel post holds one of the original compasses from the yacht Aloha and is cased in a custom designed and built stainless steel compass skylight.
